The association contributes to the DIGICHer, which promotes inclusive and ethical digitisation of minority communities’ cultural heritage. Our role focuses on applying citizen science and co-creation methods to strengthen participation and collaboration between researchers, institutions, and communities.

The association supported a research project exploring the potential of citizen science to address social challenges in local communities. The project examined how citizens, researchers, and institutions can collaborate, identified barriers to participation, and developed recommendations for public bodies on applying citizen science in Lithuania.

The association was founded during the EU-Citizen.Science project — a Horizon 2020 initiative that created Europe’s main knowledge and community hub for citizen science. The project aimed to strengthen collaboration among researchers, practitioners, and policymakers, promote citizen participation in research, and advance citizen science as a recognized approach to public engagement and science communication across Europe.

Scientists from the association are part of the RIECS-Concept consortium, which works to design a European Research Infrastructure for Excellence in Citizen Science. They contribute to the project’s communication and dissemination activities, helping connect research communities and promote the integration of citizen science resources, data, and practices across Europe.
